Tour AK1: Horse riding tour/2

This tour planned for 2007-2008 year leads us by jeep, horseback and foot, from the modern capital of Ulaanbaatar to the 2,800 metre summit of Asralt Khairkhan Uul, the highest peak in Central Mongolia 's Khan Khentii Nuruu mountain range, which is sacred to Mongolian Buddhists. The journey takes us through stunning alpine scenery as we head up into the beautiful green hills of this largely uninhabited region. Bears, wolves, red deer , moose and other wild animals are the only inhabitants of this strictly protected area. Also this tour including historical place Princess temple ruins, visit nomadic family. This is a 6 days horse riding trip.

Day 1 Arrive in Ulaanbaatar and transfer to a hotel.
Tour begins: At the airport in Ulaanbaatar you will be met by our vehicle and transferred to your hotel. City orientation tour, visit the Choichin Lama Museum- there are fewer than five temples within the complex and, amongst other artifacts, it houses the best tsam masks in the country. Dinner at the Modern Nomads restaurant /Mongolian national food, modern and comfortable/. Overnight in hotel***. (D)

Day 2 Terelj National Park
This morning we depart the capital and head east, along the road to Terelj, the only real settlement located inside the Gorkhi-Terelj National Park . From Terelj the paved road ends, and we head further into the depths of the park, heading up along a dirt track on the bank of the Terelj River, the waters of which flow through Ulaanbaatar, before coursing northwards, via Lake Bailkal, into the Arctic Ocean. Approximately 28 km after leaving Terelj the track deteriorates and here we will overnight our Princess Lodge for the 1st night. Relax in national Ger in the beautiful Khan Khentii Mountain and meet horses, ride preparation. (B.L and D)

Day 3-5 Asralt Khairkhan Mountain
This morning we will saddle up and begin our horseback journey into the depths of the National Park towards Asralt Khairkhan Mountain . On the way we will visit Princess temple ruins and will cover approximately 25km on horseback today. Our cook will travel ahead throughout the trip, preparing our meals for us in advance. In the evening we will overnight in Khonog tolgoi in a tent at a suitable spot. (B.L and D)

Day 6 Khan Khentii Mountain
Today we temporarily part from our horses and heads from our base (approximately 1,800m) upwards to reach the summit. From the 2,800M summit we should be afforded fantastic views, as this peak is the highest in the Khan Khentii Mountain range which dominates this region of Mongolia . From the summit we will descend along a different route and camp on the mountain at a suitable spot. (B.L and D)

Day 7-9 Princess Lodge
Today we continue our horseback journey to the Khongoriin gol true base of the mountain, again our cook will ride ahead to prepare meals in advance. We will camp at a suitable spot at the base of the mountain and prepare for our long day tomorrow. Today we spend our final day on horseback in the stunning national park, making the journey back to our transport at the road head. On arrival in Princess Lodge we will enjoy our last evening under the gers and stars. (B.L and D)

Day 10 dirve back to Ulaanbaatar
After breakfast dirve to Ulaanbaatar and city sight seeing. Shopping, visit musems and national concert. Lunch and dinner in local restaurant. Overnight in hotel***. (B.L and D)

Day 11 Home Journey
Tour ends: After breakfast at the hotel you will be taken to the train for departure. (B)
